When did you start modelling?

I embarked on my modelling journey at the age of 16 when I was in grade 11. From the very beginning, my family and my paternal aunt have been my strongest pillars of support, always inspiring me to pursue my dreams with confidence and determination.

How did you perfect your walk?

I learned to perfect my walk by myself, spending hours practicing in front of a mirror. Watching my movements closely and refining them step by step helped me develop a natural and confident walk over time.

Did you always aspire to be a model?

Growing up, I was a curious and creative child. I didn’t always aspire to be a model, but as I grew older, I discovered my passion for fashion and self-expression, which eventually led me to modelling.

You have won Face of Teen 2022 and Face of Classic Diamond 2024. Do you think pageants are relevant today? And will you be auditioning for Miss Nepal?

Pageants remain relevant even today as they offer a platform to showcase confidence, talent and individuality while promoting personal growth. Winning titles like Face of Teen 2022 and Face of Classic Diamond 2024 have been a transformative journey for me, helping me build confidence, refine my skills, and open new doors of opportunity. As for international competitions like Miss Nepal, I haven’t planned for it yet, but it’s something I might consider in the future.

Modelling is still underrated in the country and people don’t take this job seriously, neither are models are paid fairly. What are your thoughts?

In Nepal, despite the hard work and dedication that models put in, fair recognition and proper compensation remain major challenges. However, I believe the industry has a lot of potential to grow. With increasing awareness and appreciation for fashion and entertainment, I am hopeful that models in Nepal will eventually receive the respect and value they truly deserve.

Nepali models like Anjali Lama and Barsha Thapa have made international headlines. Do you also have plans to work abroad?

Nepali models like Anjali Lama and Barsha Thapa have truly inspired us by making their mark internationally. I am proud to share that l have already had the opportunity to work internationally as a showstopper for Glam Nepal International in Australia. This experience has motivated me to explore more opportunities abroad, and I am eager to continue representing Nepal on global platforms in the future.

Do you ever try to impress people?

I don’t really try to impress people. I just focus on being myself and let things flow naturally. I believe being genuine is more important than trying to impress anyone.

Any regrets in this career?

So far, I don’t have any major regrets. Every decision I have made has been a learning experience, and I believe everything happens for a reason. However, I always try to evaluate opportunities carefully to ensure I don’t miss out on something valuable in the future.

What is the best meal you can make when you’re trying to make a good impression on someone?

I usually cook chicken curry. It’s the one dish I’m really good at, and it’s always a hit. I find it funny, but it’s a simple way to show care and make a lasting impression.

Who is the biggest diva you have met?

The biggest diva I have met is definitely my paternal aunty, Jyoti Sijapati. She’s fashionable and always rocks the latest trends with so much confidence. She knows how to stand out and always leaves a lasting impression.

Is there an aspect to being known in social media that makes you uncomfortable?

When people I don’t know somehow find my number and contact me, it makes me very uncomfortable. It can be quite scary and overwhelming at times. It’s something I have learned to manage, but it still makes me uneasy.

Have you walked the runway wearing something you don’t like?

In the beginning, I did feel uncomfortable wearing designer clothes that didn’t quite match my style or aura. It was tough at first but my mentor always reminded me that as a model, I should be able to carry any dress with confidence. That advice helped me embrace every outfit, even if it wasn’t something I would normally choose for myself.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement is the person I am today, the Purnika I have become. All the experiences, challenges and successes have shaped me into who l am now, and I am proud of that. Winning pageant titles are milestones, but it’s my growth and journey that I truly value.

Would you ever go under the knife if your career demands it?

No. I believe in embracing my natural self and focusing on being the best version of me without any drastic changes.

What or whom is your greatest love?

My greatest love is definitely my mom. She’s my biggest support system and the person who has always been there for me, no matter what.

What is the best thing about being you?

The best thing about being me is that I am funny and always ready to help. I am also a caring person, and I know all the best places to eat, so you are in for a good time in my company. That’s pretty much it.

Any mistakes?

My biggest mistake was not always being aware of the people I was surrounding myself with. Sometimes, you don’t realise if you’re in the right circle until later. It’s a lesson I have learned, and now I am more careful about who I spend my time with.

What’s next for you?

I plan to continue growing in my modelling career and expand my reach internationally. I am also focused on creating more content, building my personal brand, and exploring new opportunities that align with my passion. I am excited to see where this journey takes me.
