To upgrade your wardrobe with pieces you can wear over and over again, look to the label’s monochrome dresses, playsuits and bodycon dresses that can double as evening wear. In this edition of WOW, we talk fashion with its founder.

What led to the creation of Neon The Labels?

After completing my Bachelor’s degree from Delhi University, I was captivated by the intricate designs, diverse fabrics, and rich textures prevalent in the city. This led me to pursue a career in the fashion industry. I gained valuable experience working for Zingbi and Perrie Fashion where I specialised in ethnic wear, honing my skills and passion for fashion design and styling. Through my label, I offer women a range of stylish and trendy bodycon dresses that make them feel confident and beautiful.

Tell us about your design inspiration.

I am inspired by strong, confident women who embrace their uniqueness. My goal is to create designs that empower women to feel beautiful and confident in their own. Also, brands like Lapointe inspire me with their innovative designs and attention to detail.

What materials and fabrics do you enjoy working with the most?

I enjoy working with spandex for its stretch and comfort, viscose for its silky feel and drape, and linen for its breathability and timeless appeal. Each fabric offers unique qualities that allow me to create diverse styles for different occasions.

Who is your target audience?

Our target audience at Neon The Labels comprises fashion-forward women who value both style and comfort. They are trend-conscious individuals who seek versatile pieces that can seamlessly transition from day to night. Our designs cater to the modern woman who is confident, independent, and embraces her uniqueness. We aim to provide our customers with high-quality, stylish clothing that reflects their individuality and enhances their personal style.

How do you stay updated with the latest fashion trends and industry developments?

I actively follow renowned fashion magazines and blogs; fashionistas to stay informed about the latest trends, styles, and news in the fashion world. It helps me keep my brand, Neon The Labels, aligned with the latest trends and industry developments.

What are some challenges you face in your career as a fashion designer?

In my career as a fashion designer, I have faced several challenges, one of which is the fast pace of the industry. Fashion trends change rapidly, making it challenging to keep up with the latest styles and meet the demands of clients. However, I have learnt to adapt to this fast-paced environment by staying updated with the latest trends, attending fashion shows, and continuously refining my design skills.

Additionally, when I used to work in ethnic wear, one of the highlights of my career was when Bollywood actor, Karishma Kapoor wore one of my designs and appreciated it. It was a great moment for me and gave me the confidence to continue pursuing my passion for fashion design.

Are there any particular fashion eras or designers that influence your work?

I admire the elegance and sophistication of the 1950s, the boldness of the 1980s, and the minimalism of modern designers like Phoebe Philo and Jil Sander. Each era and designer bring a unique perspective to fashion which I love incorporating into my work.

Can you share your favourite fashion project or design?

One of the most memorable fashion projects I have worked on was for Asian Designer Week where Karishma Kapoor was the showstopper. The collection I designed for this event was inspired by the rich heritage and culture of Nepal and India, blending traditional motifs with modern silhouettes to create a truly unique and captivating range of outfits.

Sustainability and ethical practices are integral to our brand. We use eco-friendly materials, ensure ethical production, support local artisans, minimise waste, and prioritise transparency. Our goal is to create fashion that looks good and does good for the environment and communities.
