SHANTI BHATTA
In the quiet precision of a European laboratory, where formulations are measured in microns and efficacy is proven in data, Shanti Bhatta carries something far less quantifiable. Memory. Ritual. Origin.
Born and raised in Nepal, Shanti’s journey from local traditions to global dermocosmetic innovation is not a departure from her roots, but a refinement of them. Today, as the founder of Cosprof Studio in Belgium, she stands at the intersection of science and sensibility, crafting formulations that speak both to clinical rigour and cultural memory. “Nepal gave me my first understanding of what skin truly needs,” she reflects. “Growing up, skincare was never about trends or complexity. It was about ritual, simplicity, and nourishment.”
It is this philosophy that continues to shape her work. While the global beauty industry often leans into storytelling, Shanti’s approach is grounded in substantiation. Her formulations are not built on romance, but on results.
“My focus is not on exotic storytelling. It is on identifying ingredients with real, measurable benefits, and standardising them through research so they deliver reliably on a global scale.”
From Observation to Creation
Shanti’s transition into entrepreneurship was not impulsive. It was inevitable. After working across more than 20 pharmacies in Belgium and collaborating with dermatologists and global brands, she began to notice a disconnect between what science could achieve and what consumers were actually offered. “At some point, it became clear I had the expertise and vision to do more than advise. I needed to build.”
Cosprof Studio emerged not from ambition alone, but from necessity. Her early years, shaped by discipline and responsibility in a hardworking immigrant family, had already laid the foundation.
“Helping in our family restaurant at 15 while managing my studies instilled resilience early. Every step since then has been intentional.”
Where Science Meets Sensory
In an industry that often frames clinical efficacy and luxurious experience as opposing forces, Shanti rejects the dichotomy entirely. “A truly great formulation achieves both without compromise,” she says. “If a product is effective but unpleasant to use, people will not be consistent. And consistency is where results come from.”
Her dual training in pharmacy and dermo-cosmetic science allows her to approach formulation holistically. Each product begins with scientific architecture, ensuring stability, safety, and bioavailability. Only then does the sensorial refinement begin. “I approach each formulation like creating a piece of art. Purposeful, beautiful, and effective.”

Discipline as a Foundation
Her time serving as a pharmacist in the Belgian Defence introduced a level of precision that continues to define her work today. In that environment, there is no room for approximation. “Every claim is substantiated, every ingredient justified, every formulation rigorously validated,” she explains. “Compromise is not an option.”
This ethos extends into Cosprof Studio’s global operations, where regulatory compliance across the EU, UK, US, and beyond is treated not as a requirement, but as a responsibility. For Shanti, skincare is not just topical.
It is deeply consequential. “When a product is applied to skin daily, its impact is real.”
Beyond the Natural Versus Synthetic Debate
Few conversations in beauty are as polarising as the natural versus synthetic debate. Shanti dismantles it with clarity. “I refuse to accept the divide as real. It is largely a marketing construct.” Her approach is refreshingly pragmatic. Science, not sentiment, drives decision making. “Some natural ingredients have proven benefits. Some synthetic ingredients are safer, more stable, and more sustainable. What matters is performance and how it supports the biology of the skin.”
This balanced perspective allows her to create formulations that are both high performing and respectful, free from the noise of industry trends.
The Intelligence of Formulation
Having developed over 100 products across categories, Shanti believes that true efficacy lies in intention.
“We do not start with generic bases and tweak them.
Every formula is built from the ground up to serve a purpose.” She likens formulation to cooking, where restraint is often the mark of mastery. “Every ingredient must have a clear function. The power lies in purpose driven formulation, not marketing.”
Her upcoming personal brand, currently in development for markets including Nepal, India, and Europe, represents the most intimate expression of this philosophy.
The Future is Cellular
Looking ahead, Shanti is most energised by the convergence of biotechnology, dermatology, and longevity science. The future of skincare, she believes, lies at the cellular level. “Topical formulations can now target ageing at a molecular level, combining traditional ingredients with biotech innovations to genuinely slow the process.”
For Cosprof Studio, this means evolving beyond bespoke services into creating proprietary intellectual property, with expanded operations across multiple regions and plans for in-house manufacturing.
Yet, even as the brand scales globally, it remains deeply personal. A family enterprise, with her siblings contributing to both formulation and regulatory science, Cosprof reflects a shared vision rooted in integrity.
A Return That Never Left
Despite being based in Belgium, Nepal remains central to Shanti’s work. Not as nostalgia, but as responsibility. “I follow the Nepali beauty landscape closely. There is a growing demand for products that are effective and culturally relevant.”
She is already working on standardising Nepali botanicals, with plans to introduce them internationally once validated through rigorous testing. “My goal is to ensure skincare in Nepal is science driven and built on real efficacy, not superficial marketing.”
In Shanti’s world, beauty is not about excess. It is about intention. It is about knowledge. It is about trust. And perhaps most importantly, it is about remembering where it all began.
