The Soaltee Kathmandu hosted its much-anticipated annual cake-mixing ceremony on November 15 at the hotel’s stunning poolside, marking the official start of the Christmas season. The event brought together guests for an afternoon of festive fun and camaraderie in the heart of Kathmandu. The cake mixing ceremony is a cherished tradition that signals the arrival of the holiday season. Guests had the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and join in the excitement of mixing seasonal ingredients, including dried fruits, nuts, spices, and spirits such as rum and brandy, to create the foundation for the hotel’s signature Christmas cakes.
Avinash Deshmukh, the General Manager, welcomed all the guests and said, “It is the perfect way to usher in the holiday season, and we look forward to sharing this festive and flavourful experience with our community.”
Hyatt Place Kathmandu
Hyatt Place Kathmandu celebrated the start of the holiday season with a festive cake mixing ceremony on November 8. This annual tradition, a prelude to the much-awaited Christmas festivities, was a delightful affair that brought together guests, associates and members of the media. The centrepiece of the event was a lavishly decorated table, laden with an assortment of dried fruits, nuts and spices. These delectable ingredients were carefully selected to infuse the upcoming Christmas cakes with a burst of flavours and textures. To elevate the taste experience, a medley of fine spirits such as wine, rum and whiskey, along with honey, was added to the mix.
Hyatt Regency Kathmandu
Hyatt Regency Kathmandu celebrated the arrival of the festive season with its annual Cake Mixing Ceremony held on November 8. This year’s event was a grand affair featuring a 24-foot-wide cake mixing table, the largest in Kathmandu, as the hotel welcomed distinguished guests, ambassadors, influencers, bloggers and prominent personalities from the city.
The event also featured an exquisite array of dishes prepared by Executive Chef, Suvendu Roy, and his team, showcasing culinary delights from all three of the hotel’s renowned restaurants: The Living Room, Rox, and Sesame.

The holiday season is all about togetherness and celebration, and this year we wanted to take it a step further by creating an immersive experience with the city’s largest cake mixing table.” said Ashish Kumar, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Kathmandu.
Kathmandu Marriott Hotel
The Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, in collaboration with Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu, hosted its annual Cake Mixing Ceremony on November 16 marking the start of the 50-day countdown to the New Year of Kathmandu Marriott.
At Kathmandu Marriott, the cake mixing included almonds, cashews, raisins, dates, figs, dried cherries, pistachios, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, dried ginger, candied fruits, walnuts soaked in rum, brandy, wine and a fruit juices. The cake mix was then filled into airtight containers and allowed to soak for 2-5 weeks.
Vishal Mehra, the Cluster General Manager of Kathmandu Marriott, highlighted the essence of the event stating, “It’s an opportunity to celebrate community, sustainability, and the flavours of the holidays.” Ambassadors, corporate leaders, hotel employees, hotel chefs, and the media came together in this joyous activity which will create the hotel’s signature Christmas desserts.
Radisson Hotel Kathmandu
The Terrace Garden at Radisson Hotel Kathmandu came alive with its much-awaited annual Cake Mixing Ceremony, a beloved tradition that sets the tone for the holiday season. The event gathered an eclectic mix of prominent figures including representatives from corporate houses, embassies, airlines and travel agencies, creating an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie. The ceremony was led by key members of the hotel’s leadership team, including Joint Managing Director – Bidhata Shrestha, Corporate Manager – Bilasha Shrestha, and General Manager – Subrata Banerjee. Together with the guests, they rolled up their sleeves to blend a colourful assortment of fruits, nuts, spices, and spirits, an activity that symbolises unity and the joy of the season.
Reflecting on the occasion, Subrata Banerjee shared, “This ceremony is more than a festive ritual; it’s a celebration of connection and community. We are thrilled to share this experience with our valued guests and partners as we welcome the holiday season together.”
The festivities culminated in an indulgent hi-tea where an assortment of sweet and savory creations crafted by the hotel’s culinary team was served.
Pre Christmas Cheers at Barahi Kathmandu
An elaborate cake mixing ceremony was arranged at Barahi Kathmandu on December 5, where the milieu was charged with pre-Christmas cheers. The event saw the presence of several high-profile guests, including celebrities, socialites, high corporate profiles and travel influencers who came together to celebrate the joy of the season. Roshan Sapkota General Manager of the hotel, expressed, “This tradition is about more than just creating delicious treats; it’s about fostering connections and spreading festive cheer.”
Hotel Yak & Yeti ushers in festive cheer with charitable “Wish Tree” initiative
Hotel Yak & Yeti has launched its annual “Wish Tree” tradition in the lobby, marking the start of the holiday season with a heartwarming act of generosity. Each year, the hotel gathers wish cards from children in need, displaying them on the beautifully decorated Wish Tree. Contributors selected a card and provided the listed gift which the hotel collects and distributes to the children during a special event just before Christmas.
For 2024, the initiative focuses on supporting 47 children from the Joint Disabled Unity Awaz Center in Gokarna. In addition to the Wish Tree, the festive launch featured a lively gingerbread house decorating contest in the Madhuban Garden. Attendees included diplomats, representatives of national and international organisations, and influential social figures.. Through acts of kindness, Hotel Yak & Yeti aims to bring joy and hope to those who need it most this festive season.
