The Himalayan Literature Festival & Writers Workshop 2026 opened this week in Kathmandu, bringing together some of the most celebrated voices in contemporary literature for a gathering devoted to reflection, craft, and dialogue.
The inauguration, held at Malla Hotel, marked the beginning of the festival’s second edition under the curatorship of renowned Nepali poet Yuyutsu Sharma, whose vision continues to position HLF-WWK as a meaningful space for literary exchange across borders and traditions.

This year’s faculty features distinguished poet and Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Muldoon, alongside Tina Chang, Tracy K. Smith, Tony Barnstone and numerous other inspiring writers who are emerging and established voices in the global community.
Across workshops, conversations, and readings, participants will engage with a theme that feels especially resonant in the present moment: healing, spirituality, and their relationship to the creative act.
At a time when literature is increasingly called upon to make sense of personal and collective experience, HLF-WWK 2026 offers a rare opportunity to explore how writing can become a space for restoration, inquiry, and connection.

As the week unfolds, Kathmandu stands once again as a meeting ground for ideas, imagination, and the enduring power of the written word.
