The love Story
Medha (daughter of late Dr Upendra Devkota and Dr Madhu Dixit Devkota) and Dave’s love story began in a lively London bar where a chance encounter brought them together. Medha, a dedicated medical student, and Dave, an entrepreneur managing his own business, locked eyes from across the room. Feeling the connection, Dave approached Medha, leading to an exchange of numbers and as they say, the rest is history! That spontaneous moment became the foundation of their relationship, leading them on a shared journey filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures.

Planning the Dream Wedding
“Planning our wedding in Kathmandu while living in the UK was a delightful yet complex undertaking. With five distinct events, encompassing both English wedding traditions and vibrant Nepali rituals, our aspiration was to showcase both our rich cultures.
Coordinating across time zones posed its challenges, but with Medha’s family in Kathmandu managing local preparations, we successfully brought our vision to life. Despite the logistical hurdles, every detail, from the traditional Nepali rituals to the English celebrations, was carefully orchestrated to create a special fusion of our backgrounds, making the experience all the more rewarding”.
A Celebration of Cultures
“Representing both our cultures during the wedding week was incredibly important to us, symbolising the union of not just two individuals, but two families. We thoughtfully incorporated English customs alongside the vibrant rituals of Nepal, ensuring that both our heritages were honoured.
We kicked off the celebrations with sunset drinks and cocktails at Medha’s home, where many of our friends and family met for the first time. Thai lanterns were lit in memory of our loved ones who couldn’t be there to celebrate with us.
From heartfelt English vows to the chanting of sacred Sanskrit states, every event reflected the values and traditions that have shaped us. We embraced the opportunity to add our personal touch to things where needed, in this spirit, Medha’s mother walked her down the aisle. This beautiful fusion allowed us to showcase the richness of our diverse backgrounds while creating a uniquely personalised experience that was truly meaningful for us and our guests”.
The Planning Process
Medha took the lead in planning the vast majority of our wedding, with Dave offering support along the way.
“We couldn’t have done it without the tireless efforts of Medha’s mum and her twin sisters, who helped coordinate everything on the ground in Kathmandu to bring our vision to life”.
Dr Madhu Devkota
“The wedding was an overwhelming mix of emotions for me – happiness, joy, pride, and above all, sadness for not having my husband, Upendra, to celebrate Medha and Dave.
The highlight of the wedding week was undoubtedly the traditional Nepalese celebration. This day held special significance for us, as it fulfilled Upendra’s wish to host the event at our family home, making it a deeply meaningful part of our celebrations. The blending of cultures and the personal connection to the space created an unforgettable experience for all involved. It was a beautiful moment to share with our Western and Nepalese guests, who were able to experience the rich culture and tradition up close in our house and garden.
Medha and Dave’s wedding was not just a celebration of their love; it was a testament to the beauty of unity and the rich tapestry of cultures coming together”
