PAMPER YOURSELF WITH THE GOODNESS OF MASSAGE

Life is stressful between work, working out, spending time with your family and friends and work events, there isn’t much time to really relax within the week. It’s a good idea to give your body some extra love once a month so you can unwind in the true sense and get recharged. I signed up for the Hot Stone massage combined with Shirodhara at Club Oasis, Hyatt Regency to take some time off from everyday life and invest it in my personal well-being.

One step into the spa and you immediately feel completely disconnected from the outside world and ready to delve right into self-pampering, all thanks to the calming interiors and soft, mood lighting. I was welcomed with a refreshing green tea, after which my therapist sat me down and explained to me about the hot stone massage. It is a black, smooth, shiny stone, rather like a flat pebble – -the kind that you might find commonly littered along the sandy bottoms of river beds, and yet, it is volcanic rock, capable of withstanding high temperatures. The spa industry worldwide believes that this humble stone, when heated and applied to various areas of the body and the face, has the power to keep youth and vitality alive and to heal chronic hurt and pain.

I was then shown my way to the change rooms, post which I stepped into the sauna and then the steam room for about 10 minutes each. This helps to enlarge your pores for the massage to work more efficiently and the massage oils to penetrate the skin. After the steam, I headed to the shower for a quick rinse and then to the treatment room.

The treatment started with a foot cleansing welcome ritual following which the therapist massaged my back and feet with herbal oil to relax my body. After the massage, she began the place the hot stone on my body. She started from my feet and worked her way upwards, making sure she was massaging in that direction so that my skin stays taut. After the 60 minutes hot stone massage, it was time for the Shirodhara treatment.

All the world’s calm found refuge in a little pot of oil, which is skillfully dripped upon your forehead by the masseuse, transferring calm and peace into your body. The therapists working the Shirodhara treatment will release knots in your body you didn’t know existed. The hot herbal oil poured over your head is supposed to relieve headaches, hair fall, migraines and sinusitis.
Once the massage was over, she directed me towards the shower (that she had pre-set to the right temperature) to rinse off. She then used a body moisturiser. Not only did my body feel softer and my head lighter, I felt relaxed and renewed. Outside, I was welcomed with a cup of green tea to end my sweet afternoon getaway.
