Dang, Nepal | 2 April 2026 — Zonta Club Kathmandu, through its Service Committee, successfully implemented a comprehensive education initiative in Dang, combining scholarships and mobility support to empower young girls. The program was carried out in collaboration with Rana Ambika Shah Sewa Guthi – Nepal and Tara Oriental.
The initiative established a scholarship program at Shri Mahendra Ma. Bi., Dharna, and Shri Saraswati Ma. Bi., Gorahi, benefiting students from Grades 1 to 10. A total of 20 needy and deserving students per grade were selected across both schools, ensuring inclusive and sustained educational support. A Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed between the Club President Bina Rana and the respective school principals, reinforcing a long-term commitment to education and opportunity creation.
Complementing this effort, 52 bicycles were distributed to girls in Grades 6–9—26 from each school—to address mobility challenges, reduce travel time, and support continued attendance.
“Investing in girls’ education means more than classrooms—it means removing the barriers that keep them from reaching their full potential,” said Bina Rana, President of Zonta Club Kathmandu. “Through scholarships and mobility support, we are unlocking opportunities for girls to learn, grow, and lead.”
School representatives expressed sincere appreciation, noting that the scholarship program will support continued education, while the bicycle distribution is expected to reduce absenteeism and improve attendance, particularly for girls traveling long distances.

This initiative reflects Zonta Club Kathmandu’s continued dedication to advancing gender equality through education, expanding opportunities, and strengthening community-based support systems.
Other than a team of Zontians led by President Bina Rana, Vice President Mridula Rajbhandary, Leadership Committee Chair Meekha Mathema, Service Committee Chair Samantha Shah and Service Co-Chair Kaemy Gorkhali, representatives from Tara Oriental and Rana Ambika Shah Sewa Guthi – Nepal including Anjay Shah, Rita Malla, and Dr. Mita Shah Rana were also present at these events.
Their presence highlighted strong collaboration and a shared commitment to community service and women’s empowerment.
