On January 18, Siddhartha Art Gallery in Kathmandu inaugurated a new solo art exhibit titled “An Ode to The Valley”, presented by the artist Samrat Joshi. The event was officially opened by Sangeeta Thapa, the gallery’s director with Rabindra Puri attending as the chief guest, drawing an audience of artists, cultural figures and creative professionals.
Samrat explains that his installation pays homage to the age‑old mural traditions embedded in the architectural fabric of the historic Kathmandu Valley, practices that have diminished over time both in craft and deeper cultural meaning. Through his work, he contemplates the valley’s architectural legacy and the collective effort that shaped its communities. The pieces serve as the artist’s tribute to the valley’s magnificent landscapes, its inhabitants, and the enduring principles that inform how the city is perceived, constructed, and imagined.
