UNFPA to support Nepal to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights

KATHMANDU: United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative for Nepal, Won Young Hong held a meeting with National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chairman Min Bahadur Shrestha, on Monday.

During the meeting held at the NPC office in Singha Darbar, Kathmandu, the UNFPA Country Representative for Nepal showed interest in the 16th plan being prepared by NPC.
She said the UNFPA will support the Government of Nepal in the efforts to improve sexual and reproductive health and Rights (SRHR). NPC Vice-Chairman Shrestha thanked UNFPA for the support it has provided and said that there will be continued cooperation from the Nepali government side in the future.

Young Hong is the UNFPA Country Representative for Nepal since 11 July 2022. She has over 16 years of experience working in international development, including in the areas of policy analysis, public administration reform, institutional capacity development, data, as well as youth empowerment.

Prior to her current appointment, Young Hong served as Representative for the Malawi Country Office and as Deputy Representative for the Mozambique Country Office. Before that, she served as Assistant Country Director for UNDP in Bangladesh, and Capacity Development Advisor for UNDP in South Africa.
