It is a truth universally acknowledged that a family preparing for a wedding must be in want of a wedding planner who caters to every last detail for their big day. From the choice of cuisine to the manner of entry of the bride and the groom to the playlist that forms the soundtrack of love, the big fat wedding continues to live up to its name. With the pandemic in the rear-view, grand wedding celebrations are back. And Shaadi by Marriott has become the one-stop destination for luxurious weddings, where you dream and Marriott does the rest.
Shaadi by Marriott highlights Marriott’s comprehensive wedding facilities, covering everything from beauty rituals to honeymoons. “Weddings are a very important business segment for us,” says Vishal Mehra, Cluster General Manager, adding that in 2022 alone, many weddings took place at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel. “A major part of their revenues came from wedding-related events last year. The wedding market is currently witnessing a recovery rate that is at an all-time post-pandemic high. “The last two quarters of FY 2022 have been extremely promising given the spike we have witnessed,” he adds.
In the 27 years of his hospitality career, Vishal has helped open six hotels and converted two properties in five cities across the Middle East and Asia. A career starting at the Front Office in Hyatt Regency Delhi took him to hotels like the Burj Al Arab, Grand Hyatt Dubai, Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi, Park Hyatt Maldives and Park Hyatt Chennai, among others. Vishal is also credited for the successful launch of the Hyatt Place branded hotels in the Middle East. Currently Vishal is overseeing the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel and the Fairfield by Marriott.
“Planning weddings can get stressful for families and with our services they can just leave it on us and enjoy the festivities. What sets Marriott apart is its people. We have the best of people whom we call our backbone,” says Vishal. With a list of services spanning menu curation, beauty rituals, entertainment, decor, and even honeymoons, Marriott today is no longer just a venue. “We take care of the smallest things. For instance, the couple can choose to visit any of the Marriott properties across the globe for their honeymoon and we help with our best hospitality,” he adds.
From vows to intimate ceremonies, Marriott Kathmandu has organised it all. “We are soon going to launch the third Marriott property in Kathmandu and it will bring its own charm to the visitors,” shares Vishal.
With the world constantly changing and everything evolving, wedding trends too go through upheavals. “The team keeps up with these changes be it in the culinary department or presentation, we are at the top. There are experiments and innovations that happen in-house,” Vishal concludes.
