On June 21, a press event was held at the Film Development Board Nepal where five Nepali women filmmakers shared their short film projects. They have been selected to travel to the UK this month to attend the Sheffield DocFest, UK’s major film festival and a well-known market for documentary projects. During the festival, the filmmakers will be pitching their ideas to various funding organisations. This delegation was formed by the British Council’s Gender Film Programme which is lead by Taskovski Films UK in collaboration with Nepali Female Filmmakers and Pame Film Music Festival. The programme is also supported by Film Development Board Nepal.
The delegates include Aashruti Tripathy, a Kathmandu based filmmaker; Pinki Sris Rana, Culture and Arts Reporter of a national daily; Prashansha KC, a film maker and social activist; Prasuna Devi Dongol, a documentary filmmaker and festival manager, and Smiriti Basnet, an aspiring film producer who has experience in production management and film festival programming.
