Jane Dipika Garrett was crowned Miss Universe Nepal 2023. Garrett surpassed 21 other contestants to win the title of Miss Universe Nepal.
Jane, a 22-year-old nurse and business developer based in Kathmandu, made history by being the first plus-sized woman to win the national title. She is an advocate for Nepali women’s hormonal, mental, and physical well-being. “As a woman who is curvy and who does not meet certain beauty standards, I am here to represent women who are curvy, who struggle with weight gain, and who struggle with hormonal issues. I believe that every single woman is beautiful just as she is,” said the new Miss Universe Nepal.
Prema Lamgade was the winner of the “WOW Free and Fearless Woman” title. The jury members for this year were: Upaul Majumdar, Saurabh Jyoti, Upasana Ghimire, Ayusha Shrestha, Rabi Raj Karnikar, Surakshya Panta, Sangita Pahadi and Nandini Lahe Thapa.
Garima Ghimire was named the first runner-up, while Buddhisara Sunar, Shitashma Pokharel and Abhilasha Lamsal were announced as the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Sophiya Bhujel, the previous year winner crowned her successor, who will now prepare to represent Nepal at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador.
