Newark, New Jersey: The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards took place on Tuesday night.
Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick of NSYNC took the stage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Prudential Center on September 12, 2023, in Newark, New Jersey.
Taylor Swift emerged as the frontrunner with a total of eight nominations, including prestigious categories like Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, and Song of the Year for her 2022 hit “Anti-Hero.” She clinched victories in all the televised categories she was nominated in.
Beyoncé, Doja, Karol G, Minaj, and Shakira were fellow nominees for Artist of the Year, marking a historic moment as it was the first time since the category’s introduction in 2017 that all the nominees were women. Shakira received the prestigious Video Vanguard Award. The evening also introduced a brand new category, Best Afrobeats.
The star-studded event featured performances by Demi Lovato, Shakira, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B with Megan Thee Stallion, Diddy, Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, and Fall Out Boy, among others.
