Every human being – at a deeper level – is trying to find and fulfill their purpose. But in the grand scheme of life, we are often lost in the kaleidoscope of sight, sounds and experiences… caught in a warp of constructs that tell us what we should do, by when, who we should be, what should we own and with whom should we forge our relationships.
And if we are lucky enough, we will find that empty moment of stillness that asks us: are you happy, is this what you really want, is this your life’s purpose… And if we are brave enough, we will use our answers as an indicator to change the course of our lives to be true to our real journey.
Most days for most people is just about getting through the day. Nothing awesome, nothing extreme and often with little meaning. People slouched over their cell phones looking for little bits of validation or connection in a virtual world that allows you to drift in and drift out as you like. Apps and filters that transform you from the face in the mirror to the face of make believe. The likes on your updates giving you satisfaction that a real interaction would probably not.
But meeting your life’s purpose is a journey of transformation, one that very few people take. It will challenge you, it will humble you, and it will strip you of everything you think you know as you know it. It will mean overcoming your fears, crossing thresholds and committing to a journey with no ear marked destination. It will mean that you will become stronger, wiser, more compassionate. It will also be an enriching path of maturation where you know more, feel more and have the ability to do more. It will allow you to put your energies into what truly matters. It will break you and it will enable you, and ultimately it will exhilarate, awaken and illuminate you such that your life will truly be your own.
You came into this world as you, make sure you leave having lived the truest version of you. Use your time and gifts wisely.
