Asmita Adhikari’s journey as a musician officially began when she bagged the title of third runner up in one of the most loved music reality shows of the country, Nepal Idol (season two).
Some of her popular recordings are ‘Timro Maya Le Badhera Rakha’, ‘Babari Rang’ and ‘Lajjawati Jhar’. She has also worked as a playback singer for popular movies like ‘Ma Yesto Geet Gauchu 2’, ‘Ghamad Shere’, ‘A mero Hajur 4’, ‘Chapali Height’, ‘Rato Tika Nidharma’, ‘Prasad 2‘, ‘Babari’, ‘Aaicho Paicho’, and ‘Jay Ho’.
Asmita is the recipient of several awards and has also toured internationally to Australia, Japan, Korea, Dubai, Qatar, Hong Kong, Singapore and UK for music shows.
Her popularity continues to grow and she is increasingly recognized by the music industry for her talent. Asmita was born in Jhapa and has completed BSc Nursing from Nepal Medical College and Research Centre.
What inspired you to become a musician?
My soul, blessings and interest. I have been practicing music since childhood.
You have given some major hits. How does it feel?
As a singer, it is obvious that the music I make is for the audience. When I get appreciation and acceptance, it definitely feels good and encourages and energises me to work on with more dedication and passion.
Your best working experience…
Recently I had a musical tour in Hongkong. Every moment was so good and positive. Though I have been touring so many places and each has its own value and experience, but Hong Kong created some defining memories in my journey.
When was the first time you performed?
I performed for the first time in school when I was in grade seven.
What are you currently busy with?
My music schedule of recording, musical tours, interviews, photo shoots.
You have recently been awarded with some amazing titles. Could you list some of them for us?
Chinnalata National Music Award 2022, Natikaji National Music Award 2022, LG Cine Circle Award 2023 as ‘The Best Playback Singer’, Radio Kantipur National Music award as ‘The Best Playback Singer’ for the movie Babari ‘Babari Rang’ and Best Duet Song for ‘Lajjawati Jhar’.

Every venue and audience is different and has its own value.

I am a great fan of Bollywood singer, Arijit Singh. I admire him a lot. I am hopeful of collaborating with him some day.
Favourite genre
Though I love variations in singing, my favourite would be in Pop.
