Aabhiskar KC is an emerging singer who wears many hats: he is a songwriter, voiceover artist and an engineer. Often seen performing live at music festivals and restaurants, he is also pretty active with covers of different songs on Instagram. Holding a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Aabhishkar calls himself a free soul who is deeply passionate about music and travel. To know more, Anushka Shrestha from WOW caught up with the young artiste.
How do you like to introduce yourself?
I usually introduce myself as a singer and songwriter but I would like to call myself a free soul who resonates through music and dreams of travelling the world.
Are you planning to do music professionally?
Yes, in fact I am currently doing a Pop/Rock Music Diploma from the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. I am solely into music career for now.
How did your first original ‘Ma Timro’ happen?
Ma Timro was how I first got into song writing; I wrote that song when I was in 10th grade. It was inspired from a childhood love scenario where it’s your first time getting to know the sensation of love.
How do you view the Nepali music industry?
The Nepali music industry is evolving in a really interesting way. As of now, a musician can sustain a career out of it, and I feel more people will have the courage to have a sustainable professional career in this field which automatically elevates the industry. The best is yet to come.
Any changes you’d like to see in the industry?
I would like to witness people trying out new genres and sounds and also taking our industry to international levels where artistes get recognised globally even if they are situated in Nepal.
What is the best thing about doing gigs?
It’s the connection you make with the crowd and the effort that goes into making their time at the venue enjoyable. I personally enjoy myself on stage.
Some more singles are on their way. After that I will be working on an album.
